New research has indicated that chiropractic care appears to be both effective and safe for treating toddlers and infants. An examination of the medical records of 781 infant and toddler patients, all aged younger than 3, at a chiropractic teaching clinic in England found that 85% of the children showed an improvement in their condition (according to their parents), and no severe or serious complications (those lasting over 24 hours or requiring hospitalisation) were reported. Together the children received 5,242 chiropractic treatments.
Almost three-quarters (73.5%) of the children were twelve weeks of age or less when they first began their chiropractic care. Very few adverse effects were found to result from the treatment, and no serious complications were found to result from chiropractic treatment, indicating that chiropractic care may be safe and effective for young children of toddler or infant age.
