It’s a painful statistic, but some eighty percent of adults will experience pain in their lower back (LBP) at some point. While it’s tempting to treat LBP with painkillers, LBP is often a sign that there is a problem with the body that needs to be corrected rather than masked.
One simple way to decrease the incidence and severity of LBP is to participate in regular, low-impact exercise. Resistance training has been found to one of the most effective ways of reducing LBW, as it improves the strength of the muscles in the areas most commonly compromised by LBP. Resistance training can be done using light weights, exercise bands, or even house-hold items such as water bottles or cans.
Another way to reduce LBP is to focus on strengthening your core muscles. Building up the strength in your lower-back and abdominal muscles may decrease the day-to-day pressure placed on your spine. Believe it or not, exercising your core may be better for your back than simply resting it.
